Don’t Let Your Email Kill Your Productivity
Let’s face it our email is not only a productivity killer but a time waster. We can’t blame these things on our email, we have to blame them on is our poor discipline and lack of control. I know that sounds harsh but at the end of the day when we don’t have a lot to show for our time we have to be honest with ourselves and cut out those things that hinder our productivity and ultimately making money in the affiliate marketing business.
We can’t just blame it on email but there is the Internet, social media, texting on our phones, and not to mention the never-ending webinars that can be frustrating because they offer no value and are just nothing but long time wasting sales pitches.
While these are the main productivity killers there are many other things that would become parasites in our life and devour our time second by second were not careful.
I’m no different than the next person when it comes to these time wasters or productivity killers. I can’t wait to see what’s in my email box. I enjoy looking at what other people are marketing, and I enjoy reading emails and studying them. But in the final analysis this does not make me any money.
Lucky for us so email is as captivating as it is because there are many people out there that are reading their email which makes it nice for us is affiliate marketers. There are many people out there just as eager to open their email and read it and purchase products that are relevant to them.
As marketers though we have to be more disciplined. When it comes to our email we can’t
deny that we have to manage our inboxes. One of the best ways to not allow our email to control us and to be in control is to not open our email the very first thing we do when we sit down to our computers. I have found it helpful to sit down and work on a project, product, or a blog post, for an hour or more and then turn to my email and only allow myself a predetermined amount of time.
The same thing applies to all the other things that may interfere with our business. It’s easy to say I’m just going to see what’s going on my favorite social media site and end up spending hours doing the different things that people do on social media sites.
This may seem like common sense, and it is. Nonetheless it’s something we all get caught up in if were not careful. When you’re working from home and you have your own business and you’re trying to be productive it’s important to be aware of these things that will so subtly creepy in and steal your day away.
This is really nothing more than time management 101. But awareness and simple discipline can pay dividends in the end if we will just master these things that are a part of our world and not allow them to master us.
